About the collection
A folding chair built with care
Massaud drew Seax as a folding family, and the mechanism carries the design. The aluminum frame is light enough to carry and sturdy once open. It locks into place, and you close it again with one press of a button. Stainless-steel details sit at the joints, so the chair looks finished from every side.
The back of the armchair and the lounge chair swivels, which lets it follow you as you lean back after dinner. The armrests are marine plywood with a teak finish, which puts warm wood under your forearms. Dedon offers versions with and without these plywood armrests.
You pick the frame color first. Dedon powder-coats it in Black Pepper or Lipari, a coating chosen to resist scuffs. The seat and back take a Sail fabric in taupe, shade or dove, and cushions come in the Dedon outdoor fabric families, from Natura and Tucson to Gaia, Muse, Nube and Borneo.
The dining tables share the same frame colors. Sizes run 100x100 and 140 cm for a smaller group, and 220x100 or 280x100 cm for a long table on the terrace. Add lounge chairs and footstools and you have one family for the table and the fire pit.
