About the collection
A nest you can climb into
Pouzet and Frety took their cue from nature: the shapes, textures and colors found outdoors, and the way some birds build their nests. The result looks like a small piece of architecture on your patio. The woven shell curves around you, so you sit in a private pocket of shade while the lounger sways under you.
Both designers worked for years with Jean-Marie Massaud, one of Dedon's long-standing design partners. With Nestrest they set out to turn the ordinary garden sofa into a shelter you can climb into. Dedon pitches it for rest, for meditation and for long conversations in the open air, and the cushions let you curl up inside.
Weavers at Dedon's own workshops on Cebu Island in the Philippines make each shell by hand. They use Dedon Fiber, which the company develops and produces in northern Germany. The fiber stands up to sun, salt water and chlorine, so a Nestrest can hang beside a pool or near the coast. You choose the weave in Natural or olive.
The collection has three pieces. The hanging lounger needs a sturdy beam, a pergola or a ceiling point to hang from. The standing lounger puts the same nest on a base, so you can place it on a lawn, a terrace or a roof deck with nothing overhead. Dedon also lists the base on its own.
