Since 1990

A fiber first, then the furniture

Dedon was founded in 1990 in Luneburg, Germany, by Bobby Dekeyser. The company describes itself as the first to weave synthetic fiber into luxury outdoor designs, and it built its business on that fiber.

Dedon researches, develops and makes Dedon Fiber at its own plant in northern Germany. The fiber resists chlorine, salt water and sun, so you find Dedon pieces in deserts, on pool decks and on the decks of yachts and cruise ships.

Dedon engineers work with the designers on each collection and develop new fiber profiles and textures to suit it.

Cebu Island

Woven by hand in the Philippines

Dedon opened Dedon Philippines in 2000 in the furniture district of Cebu Island. The plant covers about 15,500 square meters, runs zero-waste manufacturing and employs around 260 craftsmen.

The weavers there build every woven Dedon piece in-house. They use different techniques and fiber types, from open, airy patterns to tight, solid weaves, so each collection has its own surface.
